Soroptimist of Stuart’s International Relations efforts reflect our commitment to improving the lives of women and girls worldwide. Through strategic partnerships and long-term collaboration, we support programs that expand education, independence, and opportunity beyond our local community.
Soroptimist of Stuart provides support to St. Albans Primary School in Jamaica by collecting supply and financial donations. These donations provide educational opportunities to students from infant though grade six.
Soroptimist of Stuart has partnered with World Vision for many years. World Vision is a humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children and families to reach their full potential by addressing the root causes of poverty and injustice worldwide.
Through this partnership, SIS supports girls in Peru, Mauritania, and Uganda by providing monthly income for safe housing and educational opportunities. Members also send gifts for special occasions to encourage and uplift them.
Soroptimist of Stuart partnered with Shared Hope to help build a home in Negril, Jamaica for women who are survivors of human trafficking. The home provides opportunities to learn a trade and gain the skills needed for independence and self-sufficiency.
SIS also supported a Shared Hope visit of four young adults from Nepal — children of trafficking survivors — who traveled to raise awareness about human trafficking.
Soroptimist of Stuart was one of five locations in the United States selected to host them.
We continue to support Shared Hope in their human trafficking awareness initiatives.
Soroptimist of Stuart has supported projects for women through Heifer International, whose mission is to end hunger and poverty in partnership with communities worldwide.
These initiatives often begin with seed investments such as livestock or agricultural support. Participants receive mentoring to build sustainable businesses and gain access to supply chains and markets, ultimately creating long-term economic independence.
While Soroptimist of Stuart serves women and girls locally, we are also part of a global movement. International Relations strengthens our mission by addressing educational and economic barriers on a broader scale.
When women and girls are empowered anywhere in the world, communities everywhere grow stronger.
International partnerships are sustained through the dedication of Soroptimist members and community supporters. If you are interested in supporting global initiatives that advance education and independence for women and girls, we invite you to connect with us.
